Have you ever thought of writing a book?
So many people do think that one day they would write a book.
But the truth is, that most people won’t do it.
The second truth is that all of us have a book or two, in us!
There are so many great reasons to write a book and in this podcast episode, I share with you the reason that you absolutely should write a book!
Writing a book is like having a baby in more ways than one. You’ll try to decide whether you’re ready to take the plunge and you will be scared. But until you have a baby, you’ll never know how amazing, enriching, and challenging your life could be.
You will birth that book and never want to do it again, but then you end up writing another one or more.
When it comes to writing a book, you may think….
- What would I write about?
- Who would read it anyway?
- What’s the point of writing this book?
- Why did I even start this in the first place?
- Is it really worth all this work?
Well, as difficult as it can to get clear on why you would get started on a book, there are some really great reasons to write a book and one major reason that you should not write a book, which I will share with you at the end.
#1 – YOU ARE A WRITER ALREADY (YOU JUST NEED TO WRITE)
Hey, anyone that can write can be a writer. Each one of us has a story to share. In fact, most of us have more than one story to share. Writing and getting your story or information on any given topic that you are passionate about is a worthy and cathartic thing to do.
#2 – YOU’LL LEARN MORE ABOUT YOURSELF
The process of writing a book forces you to delve deep into your thoughts. Through writing and putting text out into the world, you’ll gain perspective about what really matters to you.
#3 YOU WILL LEARN TO BE COMMITTED AND DISCIPLINED
Making the commitment to a large writing project, and seeing it through, will measure the depths of your discipline. You will have to be committed and keep going. There will be a point that you will get a certain way through the book and want to give up or wonder why you started. Just like pregnancy, you have to keep going or the book baby won’t grow.
#4 – YOU’LL BECOME AN EXPERT IN YOUR AREA
These days anyone can write and publish a book. It is actually easier than ever! It is affordable, easy and simple. All you need to do is type! If you can type your book on your keyboard, you can figure out how to write a book.
However, the public still hold authors in high stead. Therefore, it is a really simple and great way to make a huge impact in your branding, career and business by elevating and showing your expertise through writing a book.
#5 – YOU WILL LEAVE A LEGACY
We only get one shot at this life and we are not here forever. Our time here is limited so make your time count. Leave a legacy. If you’ve ever wanted to write a book, don’t wait, get started and enjoy the many benefits of your hard work.
You have a chance to share your words, thoughts, and passions with the world.
#6 – ELEVATE YOUR PERSONAL BRAND
Writing and promoting a book gives you lots of exposure, PR opportunities and opportunities to speak or elevate your brand on podcasts or social media. It gives you credibility and allows you to speak to the topic in your book.
#7 – YOU WILL HAVE LOADS OF CONTENT FOR YEARS!
Even if you never publish your book, you will have loads of content to post as blog articles, podcast topics and social media content. You can pull out the content and re-purpose it over and over.
#8 – YOU’LL TACKLE A NEW CHALLENGE
Life has so many obligations and it can be easy feel that you are in a rut. Committing to writing a book is leaving your comfort zone and gives you a challenge to experience something new. The only way you grow as a person is by forcing yourself to leave your comfort zone. Time to jump off the cliff—write a book and become an author this year.
You’ll be amazed at how much you’ll gain by pushing the limits of your own self-imposed boundaries.
#9 – YOU’LL ADD ANOTHER TITLE TO YOUR NAME
When you write and publish a book, you become an author as well as all the other amazing things that you are. That is a pretty cool title to pull out whenever you want.
#10 – THE NUMBER ONE REASON YOU SHOULDN’T WRITE A BOOK.
To make money. Writing and publishing a book is not a great money spinner, however there are so many other incredible reasons to write a book.
